Climate change is no longer a distant threat; it is a pressing crisis affecting millions worldwide. Vulnerable communities, particularly in low-income countries, bear the brunt of its impacts, facing extreme weather events, food insecurity, and displacement. The intersection of climate change and social justice is stark, as marginalized groups often lack the resources to adapt and recover, worsening existing inequalities.
In this talk, Mr. Leung Wing Mo will share his insights on climate change and guide you on a compelling virtual journey, highlighting the voices and stories of those facing its impacts firsthand. Mr Leung Wing Mo
Adjunct Professor of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University & The Chinese University of Hong Kong ; Former Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory
Mr Leung Wing Mo is a leading figure in Hong Kong’s weather and climate community. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at both the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He chairs the Guangdong Nuclear Safety Consultative Committee and is the spokesperson for the Hong Kong Meteorological Society. He also sits on the boards of several environmental organizations, including The Green Earth and the Conservation E3 Foundation.
Previously, Mr Leung was the Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory. He served on several government advisory committees and was instrumental in shaping Hong Kong's long-term decarbonization strategy.
Mr Leung is well known in the media. He was Hong Kong's first professional meteorologist to present local TV weather programs and later became the host of the acclaimed science education series MObservatory (武測天) which aired nearly 400 episodes.
