Full Moon Blessings Collection

Over 3.2 million pieces of mooncake were wasted last year, according to research by the food bank Feeding Hong Kong. Meanwhile, many underprivileged individuals cannot afford to enjoy this festive treat. Let’s come together to make a difference!

HKUST Connect is supporting Feeding Hong Kong to collect surplus mooncakes on campus and spread some Mid-Autumn joy to those in need. We invite all University members to donate and drop off your unopened mooncakes at our collection point.

Your generous donations will be given to Feeding Hong Kong, which will distribute them to frontline charities, benefiting vulnerable communities in Hong Kong. Together, we can reduce food waste, spread care, and promote sustainability at the same time.

Collection period: 

• 15-19 & 22-25 September 2025

Collection points and time:

• SSC Wall (Lifts 25-26): 12nn – 2:30pm,
• Room 4334 (Lift 3), Academic Building: 9am – 12:45pm & 2 - 5:30pm

Donation guidelines:

• Non-perishable and can be stored at room temperature
• In original, unopened packaging
• With a clearly stated best before or use by date and manufacturer
• Surplus Gift Vouchers are welcome (at least 10 days before they expire)
