There is no Plan B because there is no Planet B.
Addressing climate change is critical to protecting our planet. Findings by researchers at ETH Zurich show that tree planting “is the most effective climate change solution available to the world right now.” Let’s take action to plant trees where they grow fast and take CO2 out of the atmosphere quickly.
We will grow an HKUST Forest with 1,000 trees in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest together with smallholder farmers to recover the deforested and degraded land. Your support will enable us to restore the canopy of the Amazon by planting native fruit and timber trees, and indigenous crops.
By planting trees, we make social and economic impact in society by empowering local farmers to develop sustainable livelihoods. Forests also provide a habitat for biodiversity, serving as a home for birds and other wildlife. Furthermore, this is one of the best ways to slow down the Earth’s greenhouse effect.
How it works?
** Exclusively for HKUST students/faculty/staff/alumni **
You can join the effort by adopting a tree at HK$30 only. Together, we can grow an HKUST forest in Peru. After adopting a tree, you will be able to:
- Virtually travel to the tree with satellite maps through TreeTracker
- See the genuine picture of the tree and farmer;
- Access to all tree's data incl. CO2;
- Name the tree;
- Download a tree adoption certificate;
- Tree Chat.

You can join the effort by adopting a tree at HK$30 only. Together, we can grow an HKUST forest in Peru. There are few options you can choose from:
- Adopt 1 tree (HK$30 each)
- Adopt 1 tree, donate 3 trees (HK$100/set)
- Adopt 1 tree, donate 9 trees (HK$250/set)
- Donate 1 tree (HK$30 each)
Donated trees will be given to recognize HKUST students who have taken real action to support the SDGs through HKUST Connect.
