Students collecting rubbish in beach

[This is a Community Service under Project C - Connect x Community]

Hong Kong, well-known for its 733-kilometer-long coastline and natural beauty, also faces the challenges of marine pollution. According to a study on Hong Kong’s marine environment, around 15,000 tonnes of marine refuse was collected in Hong Kong waters every year. Rubbish left on our stunning beaches will very likely be swamped into the ocean and thus threaten the marine life. HKUST Connect is recruiting volunteers to clean up the beach in Tai Hang Hau, Sai Kung, to help preserve our beautiful shorelines and to raise students' awareness of marine environmental issues.
