Workcamp @ Tai O Community

Tai O, once Hong Kong’s biggest fishing community, is regarded as the "Venice of the Orient" for its unique stilt houses (棚屋) and waterways. Yet, the needs of this small community have often been overlooked. About half of the residents belong to the retired fishing population, who live in simple stilt houses, need our care and support.

During the workcamp, participants will:

  • Discover and address the needs of the Tai O community in teams
  • Design, plan and implement projects from scratch under the mentoring of an advisor
  • Learn to facilitate community development while respecting local cultures and environment
