HKUST Bread Run 惜食．麵包收集活動 (Oct 2023)

Every day, while one million people live in poverty struggling to afford nutritious meals, 3,600 tonnes of food waste are sent to landfills in Hong Kong. In Bread Run, volunteers will visit bakeries right before its closing time to pick up surplus bread and bring them to the food bank at Yau Tong. All donations are distributed by the Feeding Hong Kong charity network the following morning to non-profit programs that provide food to those in need.
樂餉社是本地拯救剩食的食物銀行，現招募義工於各區麵包店關店時收集剩餘麵包，並且運送至食物銀行作妥善分類及儲存。機構將於翌日早上把食物轉送至慈善機構分配給有需要的人士，以解決饑餓問題，減少浪費食物。

Time: About 1.5 hours within 7 - 10pm
Location: Across Hong Kong
Remarks:
1. Volunteers are required to attend a briefing session at 5-6pm on 20 Oct 2023 (Fri) via Zoom.
2. [HMAW1905] This is a recognized event in the "Self-directed Experience" component of HMAW1905: Behavioral Foundations of University Education: Habits, Mindsets, and Wellness. To receive 2.5 hours, you must attend the event in full and miss no more than 10 mins.
3. The actual service hours will be subject to confirmation by the partner organization.
