One of the Public Service Leaders (PSLs) initiated this project for visually impaired people (VIP) to enrich their social lives. Volunteers enjoyed mass games, different outdoor activities including a picnic in the park, and hiking with the VIPs. Through interacting with the VIPs, volunteers enhanced their understanding and showed their care to the VIPs.

Description

雖然已經不是第一次接觸視障人士,但這一班視障年青人真的給我不一樣的感覺! 就此放下視力上的不同,他們有的比我們更用心聆聽,更用心感受! 他們記性很好,亦用心記住每個陪伴他的義工! 「點解我上次的義工XXX今次冇黎到的?」至今仍然很深刻! 另外,他們也很留意身邊發生的一些社會議題、時事,與視力良好的我們沒有多大分別! 我想唯一不同的是,礙於視力上的障礙,他們外出到新環境的時候,往往需要朋友或義工從旁協助! Be the volunteer, be their friends!

「如果我自己再次來到科大走走會不會很冒險?」當科大同學因為院校遠離市中心,而不願意回到學校,對於全失明的視障人士,一次參觀科技大學的機會是如何的罕有珍貴,因為由南閘走到piazza所需要經過的地方,對他們來說是一場冒險。能夠自由地到不同的地方遊覽見識原來並非必然的,雖然視障人士未必能用眼睛看清這個世界,但這並沒有阻礙他們的好奇心。在三次的活動中他們都喜歡不停說話,不停問問題,一開始我也十分興奮地嘗試仔細描述,用口述影像讓他們看到更多。不過這真的需要很有耐性和技巧,到後期曾為他們的提問而感到不耐煩,但這正正是每天照顧視障人士的家人所面對的情況。想到這,我再次有力量盡力把我看到的描述給他們看,運用我的耐性和時間讓Visually Impaired People (VIP) 能認識、享受這世界更多,透過義工們的眼睛和陪伴。
