Update on 10 March 2020:
On 6 Mar 2020, the HKSAR Government Department of Health issued advice for the public to consider delaying all non-essential travel outside of Hong Kong. In response to the rapidly evolving global health situation surrounding COVID-19 and holding the health, safety and best interests of our students as our highest priority, the University decided to suspend all outbound student activities to take place outside of Hong Kong during the Summer Term. Hence, all Service Learning Trips organized / coordinated by HKUST Connect this Summer Term will be suspended. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Cambodian Children's Fund believes that with the right education and support, one child has the potential to lift an entire family out of poverty and that a generation of educated children has the power to change a whole society. Through intensive, long-term investments in children, CCF is helping students build the skills, confidence and integrity they need to become the progressive spokespeople and leaders of change in their communities.
Duties
- Assist in building up the STEM curriculum for high school students
- Support the school's Junior STEM team to engage students
Time commitment
Full time: Mid June to Mid August 2020
(2 months, Monday to Friday)
Subsidy
HK$8,000 per month
Students have to bear all the expenses associated with the trip. (E.g. Round-trip flight ticket, meal, local transportation, accommodation, travel insurance etc.) Cambodia Children's Fund and HKUST Connect will provide administrative support on the arrangement.
Requirements
- STEM academic background necessary
- Postgraduate students are preferred, but undergraduate students who are keen is also welcome
- Experience in working with children or education is a plus
- Must be independent, and confident in moving to Phnom Penh
Remarks
Students will have to pay for a monthly volunteer fee of USD$250 which covers volunteer dorm/board/meals and extras expenses in Cambodian Children's Fund
