Questions
Question + Description

Who is eligible to join Community GO?

If you are a current undergraduate or postgraduate student of HKUST and have registered with HKUST Connect, you are most welcome to join Community GO. Just complete the simple registration process by clicking here.

Is there any application screening process for Community GO?

No, there is no screening process as long as the registration form is completed in full.

Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email within three working days.

How to apply for a community service/experience in Community GO?

Follow the steps here to become an HKUST Connect registrant with a Social Career account. Then, you can apply for services organized by HKUST Connect by filling in respective activity registration forms.

Can I choose to start Community GO by joining an experience first?

You may choose to start your Community GO journey with either a community service or an experience that interests you. However, priority for signing up for an experience will be given to those who have participated in at least 1 service.

How can I get the certificate?

To get the certificate, you just need to: complete 1 community service and participate in 1 experience organized by HKUST Connect, attend a debriefing session to consolidate your learning experience in Community GO, and submit a reflection summarizing your journey. Once you have completed these steps, you will receive a Certificate of Participation.

What are the requirements for the reflection?

You are expected to submit a reflection that captures your experience and learning in Community GO. The reflection can be submitted in any format, such as a written journal, a visual presentation (including drawings or photos, etc.) or PowerPoint slides. As a guide for your reflection, visual presentation templates will be provided during the debriefing session.

I participated in a service at HKUST Connect before signing up for Community GO. Can I still sign up for Community GO now and have that service counted towards Community GO?

Yes, you can sign up for Community GO at any time. Services completed before you sign up for Community GO can also be counted towards the requirement as long as they are organized by HKUST Connect after 1 September 2023.

If the service I attended was organized by another NGO I found on a different platform, can it be counted towards Community GO?

No, only services organized by HKUST Connect will be counted towards Community GO.

How can I get the welcome gift?

Students who sign up for Community GO will receive an HKUST Changemaker water bottle or crossbody bag as a welcome gift. You will receive a confirmation email within 3 working days after successful registration with gift redemption details while stocks last.

What if I fail to complete all components of Community GO?

By participating in one service/experience per month, you can complete the journey within one semester! We recommend staying updated on our emails for the latest service opportunities. There is no penalty if you are unable to meet the program requirements, but please note that you will not receive the certificate. If you encounter any difficulties, feel free to contact us for assistance.

Be inspired

Never underestimate the difference you can make by offering your time and effort to serve others. As you extend grace and show compassion, you are giving a part of your life to make someone else's a little better. By showing up, you are spreading hope.

Our volunteers will tell you that it is indeed more blessed to give than to receive.
